Javier Salazar

Javier Salazar was born and raised in Mexico City. He studied mathematics, business and English at the National University of Mexico.

His first became involved with the not-for-profit sector in 1999 when he became a manager at Junior Achievement of Mexico's National Office, where his task was to launch a series of new programs all over the country.

Javier opened his first company, Area 3, a business training firm in 2003 and a video and event production company, C Digital Studio, in 2005. Both companies still run successfully in Mexico.

Then, in 2007, he moved to Canada to follow one of his dreams: photography. He opened his third company in 2009, a branch of his studio in Mexico, which he later rebranded as Javier Salazar Photography.

Upon arrival in Canada, Javier immediately became involved with Junior Achievement of Northern Alberta and NWT. In less than five years, he has risen through the ranks, starting from program manager to his current position as Vice President of Programs.

Javier is also the organizer of Edmonton’s Help Portrait, an event that provides professional photography to the less fortunate. He has organized this event since 2009 and has given out over 1,000 portraits.  Javier was named one of Avenue Magazines’ Top 40 for 40 last November.
